Once I decided to look for a work from home “job”, the first place I decided to look for it was the internet.
Why the internet? Well, first of all, at that stage I was already fascinated by the possibilities it offers in all aspects of life, you can say I actually loved the internet.
I even found my soul mate there (but this is not for this blog, maybe I should start another one soon J).
Besides, the internet is at home, so it looks perfect for a work from home business.
So I typed “work from home” on Google, and checked what came up.
Oh, I typed it in Hebrew then, as I thought that seeing that “home” for me now is in Israel, so most offers valid for here would be in Hebrew.
After dismissing the data entry, filling surveys and so on offers, I was left with what looked like what I then also referred to as “those pyramids”.
To be honest – although I did come across and even tried a bit of MLM, I did not know much about it, and believed every story that was going around, most of which were very unflattering to say the least.
I then saw a very interesting site that wrote about work from home, wellness and baby boomers, and how that was the direction the world was going.
No specific company was mentioned (fortunately I guess), only a lot of info and some people’s stories, and then there was a place to put my details, including my phone number.
A few hours later this lady phoned me. She wanted me to come for an interview the following day, but as I was working at that stage it was difficult.
She then suggested I come for a 2 day seminar in a hotel by the sea.
Quite impulsively I decided to try it, thinking that the worst that can happen is that if I am bored with the seminar, I can sit looking at the sea reading my book.
The company in question was Herbalife by the way, and perhaps it was just as well I did not know that in the beginning, as I was relying on rumors rather than facts.
The seminar was wonderful. The people made every effort to make me comfortable, I heard amazing stories about people’s health and general wellbeing that improved due to consuming the products, people who made quite substantial sums of money working from home after hours, after finishing their day job, everyone was happy, singing, dancing……….I was hooked J
